ABOUT OUR PROGRAM

Redmond Select Girls Basketball provides a semi-competitive basketball program to 4th - 8th grade players in the catchment area for Redmond High School that builds players skills and confidence and prepares athletes to play middle school and high school basketball. Redmond Select participates in either the Eastside Travel League (ETL) or the PEAK League.  All programs in the ETL are "feeder" teams, meaning the teams are formed by players from within their high school catchment area - our catchment area is students residing within the Redmond High School boundary, regardless of where they attend school. Waivered spots are sometimes available if there has not been enough interest for a team from within our boundary area.

A volunteer Board of Directors oversees the operations of the  program. The board consists of parents and coaches. Parents who are interested in serving on the board should contact the current President of the board to express their interest and discuss possible openings.

TEAMS

We will field one team per age group consisting of 10-12 players for each team. Final team sizes may vary depending on the number and skill level of players that tryout each year.

PRACTICE SCHEDULE
Practices begin the week after teams are selected in late September or early October and go through the end of the season, usually the beginning of March. Practice times will vary depending on gym availability. In addition, skills clinics might be offered throughout the season to our RGSB players.

We will have access to gyms at Redmond High School and Timberline Middle School.

GAME & TOURNAMENT SCHEDULES
Redmond Select participates in either the PEAK League or the Eastside Travel League (ETL) which includes teams from most local high school feeder teams on the Eastside from Snohomish to Renton. Approximately 15 games are scheduled weekends (typically one game Saturday and one Sunday) from December through February.

In addition to League games, all teams typically play in four or five local tournaments and one travel tournament per season. Teams typically play 35-40 games during the season, including tournament games.

Individual teams may play more or fewer tournaments, but we strongly encourage tournament play because it develops skills quickly and is fun for the players! Tournament play is decided by each team, but the tournaments listed below are typically played by most teams:

  • Halloween Hoopla - Our Redmond-hosted tournament
  • Mt Si Wildcat Shootout (November 2023)
  • (Optional) Cold Turkey Tournament (November 2023)
  • Juanita Girls MLK or Mount Si MLK Wildcat Classic (January 2024)
  • Stanwood Presidents Day or Issaquah Eagle Eye Tournament (February 2024)
  • Peak League Playoffs (March 2024)
  •  Washington Middle School Championship (March 2024) *must qualify*

COMMITMENT FROM PLAYERS

Redmond Girls Select Basketball coach expectations are that Redmond Select Basketball will be the priority sport during the regular season.

We recognize (and celebrate!) that many players are multi-sport athletes participating in fall sports whose schedules compete with the pre-season (October to November) practice and tournament schedule. Players will not be penalized for missing practices or games (tournament games) in October and November.  However, those players attending practices on a regular basis will be better prepared for early season games and absences could reflect game playing time.

Players must communicate potential conflicts to coaches during tryouts.

2023/24 COST

2023/24 Season costs are $650 per player plus a uniform fee (includes player full uniform + practice jersey + socks). We encourage families to purchase a size that will allow a player to use her uniform for two years. Fan spirit wear are available to purchase for an additional cost.

This cost does not include travel expenses to games/tournaments.

Scholarships are available at the discretion of the board for those athletes and their families who are unable to assume the costs of participation. We are committed to supporting ALL PLAYERS that qualify for the team, regardless of financial situation
